The appeal for the Sheikh Imran Abdullah has been scheduled for Thursday in High Court.
Imran was sentenced on terror charges for 12 years by Criminal Court last month in connection to the violence that had occurred on May Day last year.
The sentence issued on Imran said that Imran had not been able to prove beyond a doubt that he was not implicit in the violence and chaos that ensued.
The same charges were filed on JP Deputy Leader Ameen Ibrahim and senior member Sobah Rasheed. However, the state had not been able to carry out the charges as the two were not in the country.
