Airport walkway opened

The walkway between the international and the domestic terminal in the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) has been opened.

The walkway was opened by MACL MD Adil Moosa this morning.

Speaking in the ceremony, Adil Moosa said that the walkway was opened as many passengers did not have a shaded passage between the two terminals, especially during the rainy months. He said that lack of a proper walkway had been a core concern of the passengers and tour operators.

“We began the project this year, we completed this in three months,” he said.

He further said that additional projects had been planned for the development of the domestic terminal, adding that once completed the terminal will be expanded and passengers will have easy access to their luggage as well.

Adil said that even though the airport development project will be carried out, the projects initiated by MACL will proceed as planned.

The walkway project cost MACL MVR 3.4 million. The development of the walkway will begin next month.
