Supreme Court to take Suo Moto action against HRCM members
The Supreme Court has decided to begin a trial under suo motu regulations, against the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives based on the Commission’s report to the United Nation’s Universal Periodic Review.

Suo Moto action is when Supreme Court makes its own proceedings into cases. Supreme Court previously declared that the Elections Commission’s President Fuwad Thaufeeg and Deputy President Ahmed Fayaz’s seat at the commission void under a Suo Moto proceeding.

The Commission has been summoned to the first hearing of the trail at 10:30 am on September 24, 2014.

The Members of the HRCM were summoned to the Supreme Court individually yesterday afternoon and presented with the case details and summons.
