President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has stated that unless the successes of this term is communicated to the public, PPM would not be able to win the coming election in 2018.
He made the statement, addressing the participants in the closing ceremony of the three day symposium held to train campaign managers held in Dharubaaruge.
President Yameen said that a change was brought about in 2013, as the citizens were desiring a better future, after the tumultuous leadership. Therefore, he stressed that it was vital that the public was made aware of the changes that had occurred since then.
President Yameen said that his government had initiated many reforms in their short tenure, noting the successes achieved in the health and education sectors.
He said that during the past few years, the Government had initiated state sponsored 23 kidney transplants and five liver transplants. He also noted that there were 3420 cancer patients still on treatment, while an additional 1627 patients are still getting treatment for kidney issues. President Yameen said that due to these aspects the health sector of the country needed to be improved.
Highlighting on the education sector of the country, President Yameen said that during his tenure, 423 classrooms, 19 halls in schools and 12 science laboratories had been constructed.
President Yameen added that the teachers in all state schools now have a diploma qualifications. He noted that an agreement had been signed between the Government and Islamic University to train 5000 teachers in Arab and Islam. He stated that the teachers will be trained in order to promote Islam and Islamic education in the country.
