MP Riyaz calls to implement measures against boycotting calls
Kimbidhoo Constituency MP Abdullah Riyaz has called to implement strong measures against those calling for boycotts on the tourism sector.

Speaking in today’s Parliament session Riyaz said that calls to boycott the sector was a serious issue and measures needed to be implemented immediately.

He condemned the boycott campaign carried out in ITB Fair, citing that his will cause irreparable damage to the sector. Riyaz said that the day the World Trade Fair was opened was a day when state of emergency was implemented in the country. He added that this had also created complications for the country, urging all to cooperate in order to ensure the situation did not occur again.

He also urged the MPs to pass the bill on banning boycott calls as soon as possible. Riyaz said that the bill will address many of the concerns international partners had with the Maldives, such as human trafficking and judicial justice system. He also said that this bill will facilitate economic development and progress.

Abdullah Riyaz called on all those who had called for boycotts in the Germany.

“I am not just supporting for a review of the matter, I’m calling for to enact measures on those calling for the boycotts,” he said.
