Gemanafushi Constituency MP Jameel Usman has stated that the tourism boycott calls are led by six Maldivians and three priests.
Speaking in today’s Parliament session MP Jameel Usman said that one of the priests had been deported while attempting to spread Christianity in one of the islands. He added that the second priest was Christian missionary running a Dhivehi language channel from Mauritius spreading Christian sermons. Jameel Usman added that the third priest supported homosexual marriages.
He said that the citizens have to reconsider the calls for boycotting the sector given these circumstances. Jameel Usman further said that a large sector of the population was employed in the 112 resorts operating in the country and that any calls for boycott will hurt those employed in those resorts.
