Awareness for non-communicable diseases is a priority: Irthisham
Health Minister Irthisham Adam has stated that 80 percent of deaths locally are caused by non-communicable diseases and as such, awareness must be created to prevent such fatalities.

Minister Irthisham made the statement speaking in the sensitization workshop held for media in Bandos Island Resort today.

Irthisham added that the information provided by official authorities, Health Protection Agency and other related agencies have to be accurate. As such, the information provided by media have to be accurate as well.

WHO Country Representative Dr. Arvind Mathur said that the messages passed in media are lifesaving messages and as such have to be accurate and informative.

He added that the life threatening diseases and other less life threatening complications also need to be communicated, adding that care must be taken when providing information on the issues.
