European Investment Bank’s Dr. Tao Ren has stated that EU will assist in the nation’s efforts to develop sustainably.
He made the statement speaking in the ceremony held to sign a US$ 50 million agreement to address the issues faced by the country’s electricity supply network.
Dr. Tao had welcomed the Government’s initiative on behalf of the Bank’s President, pledging the Bank’s assistance to such initiatives, including Government’s mission to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Dr. Tao said that he hoped that this project will become an example for other island nations.
Finance Ministry said that under the aid, renewable energy systems will be used to generate between 40 – 70 megawatts of energy.
