The Education Ministry has appealed all independent institutions of the state to not base their reports on outdated facts but to base the reports on the latest facts.
The education Ministry made this appeal at the press conference held yesterday to express concern regarding the periodical review submitted by the Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) to the United Nations.
The deputy minister Dr. Abdulla Nazeer said that the report of HRCM that 8 percent of students experience violence perpetrated by teachers is not the situation today but is taken from an assessment made by UNICEF in 2006.
Dr. Nazeer noted that the education sector has met with much changes over the years. He said that only 27 percent pass in all five subjects in 2009 but now it has increased to 43 percent.
He said that students are achieving international level successes with the hard work of the students, the school, the teachers and parents.
Dr. Nazeer said that it is important to mention the changes that the education sector has seen over the years if a report is based on the findings of more than six years back. He said that the report will not be perfect or authentic without mentioning these changes.
