Visiting Saudi scholar Sheikh Asim Al- Hakim has said that justice has to be maintained for the development of the society and for Islam to flourish.
He made the statement addressing the participants of the lecture given at Maldives Islamic University Sunday evening.
The Sheikh said that justice was the basic tenet for peace in the society and family.
He also reflected on the importance of balance in observing religious duties and prayers, adding that balance must be sought out taking into account one’s health, worldly obligations and familial duties. Sheikh Asim added that Islam was the most perfect religion as Islam had always stressed on moderation and balance.
Sheikh Asim noted that the balance in Islam had been put in jeopardy due to the influences of the devil who will use all resources to deflect Muslims from the right path.
The Sheikh said that Muslims have to abide by what Allah and the Prophet (PBUH) had ordered to do.
“When Allah forbids something, it is haram. When the Prophet forbids something, then it is haram. What is haram cannot be made legal,” he said.
Sheikh Asim said that balance can only be achieved when Muslims follow Quran and the Sunnah adding that learning Arabic was key to understanding Quran and the Sunnah.
The Sheikh added that Muslims have to demonstrate their faith by following all the instructions issued by Allah. He said that, regretfully, some Muslims today are refusing to follow the instructions, giving excuses much like the devil gave when he refused to bow down to Prophet Adam.
