Secretary General of the Carrom Asia Confederation and Treasurer of the International Carrom Federation, Ahmed Mubeen has said that they will work to achieve new developments in Carrom in Maldives.
Mubeen made this remark in an interview to Miadhu Daily following his election to two important posts of two international carom associations.
He said that it will be now easier for him to work to develop carom in the Maldives following his election as the Secretary General of the Carrom Asia Confederation.
Mubeen said that there are 52 member countries in Carrom Asia Confederation and he will get much information from his communications with these countries to develop the sports in Maldives.
“This is a very top post of the organization. Asia is the strongest continent in carom. Therefore getting this opportunity is an opportunity to achieve new developments for the sport in Maldives,” he said.
The International Carrom Federation introduced Carrom World Cup in 2002 and the first World Cup was hosted in Luton (England). It was then also decided that the Carrom World Cup will be organized in between Carrom World Championships which is held every four years. The second tournament was organized in 2006 at Cannnes (France) and the third in 2010 at Richmond Virginia (USA). Carrom World Cup is one of the most prestigious events of Carrom organized after every four years.
For 2014, the International Carrom Federation has allotted the Carrom Association of Maldives the honored privilege of organizing and hosting the 4th Carrom World Cup to in the Maldives.
