Majority leader of the Peoples’ Majlis and Vilimaafannu constituency member Ahmed Nihan Hussein Manik has said that the teachers should not hold the protest without meeting President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Nihan made this remark speaking at the DhiTV “Khabarutherein” program. He said that if there are issues unresolved then the President will resolve them. He said that the teachers should not carry on with the protest and should not stop teaching.
Nihan said that if the teachers association is planning such a protest then it should only be held after meeting the President.
He said that he has informed the Teachers Association that he will set an appointment with the President when the President returns to the country.
President Yameen is in a state visit to Sri Lanka and Singapore and after concluding the visits he will be going to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj pilgrimage.
Nihan said that he will get the teachers association the opportunity to meet President Yameen even if the president arrives in Maldives tomorrow.
He alleged that some politicians are behind this protest to stop the works of the schools. He called all teachers to be attentive of such plots and not to be deceived by such plots.
