Opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidate has won the Addu City Feydhoo’s council seat while MDA won the seat of Noonu Atoll Velidhoo.
In yesterday’s election, Addu City Feydhoo’s council seat was succeeded by Ali Fahmy Ahmed. He competed against the ruling party Peoples’ Progressive Party (PPM) candidate Eana Naseer.
Ali Fahmy won the seat with 1068 votes while Eana Naseer got 869 votes.
In addition to this, MDA candidate Ali Mujthaba won Noonu Atoll Velidhoo seat with 648 votes. His rival in the election MDP candidate Abdulla Ahmed Shafeeg got 524 votes.
Addu City Feydhoo council’s by-election was held following the sudden death of MDP member Abdulla Ashwan.
Velidhoo by-election was held following the resignation of MDP member Mohamed Ali.
