Maldives welcomes a new flight from Fuzhou, China today with the arrival of the first flight from Maldivian airlines, bringing in over 141 passengers from the city. Fuzhou is the capital and one of the largest cities in the Fujian province and is a growing city with potential from the market.The flight from Fuzhou arrived today at 06.10am at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport. The arrivals were welcomed at the runway, as they exited the flight, by the Chinese Ambassador for Maldives, Mr. Wang Fukang, together with senior representatives from Island Aviation Services Ltd (IASL), Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC), Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) and other relevant industry members. Their arrival was warmly welcomed with special gifts from IASL and a performance at the arrivals by ‘VarunulaaBoduberu’ group.
Maldivian airlines is the national carrier in Maldives and now operates 6 routes to China, which includes flights to Nanjing, Xian, Changsha, Chongqing, Wuhan and now with this new route to Fuzhou. Maldivian’s new route to Fuzhou will operate once a week and is expected to result in a rise in the Chinese arrivals.
