Deputy Tourism Minister Hussain Lirar has said that the Government will facilitate all projects that will further tourism. He said that as part of this, the Government has planned to create a cruise liner terminal in Male’.
He made the statement speaking in the launch of the cross country catamaran journey by sailor Abdul Ghafoor Ali in Izzuddin Jetty.
Lirar said that this year is marked as the Visit Maldives Year and that many activities are carried out to mark the occasion. He added that the catamaran journey is part of the activities.
Lirar further said that the marketing activities need to be broadened to a wider platform and a larger international audience. He added that international events have to hosted in the Maldives and that the infrastructure of the country has to be developed to cater for such events.
The catamaran event is to be covered by international media and will be a remarkable achievement to the tourism sector.
