President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has expressed concern over the fires in Gaaf Dhaal Thinadhoo.
A statement released by the President’s Office on Tuesday said that President Yameen was concerned over the disruptions in public services, including electricity and water. The President was saddened by the cancellation of classes at the island’s school due to the fire and assured the people of Thinadhoo that all government authorities would work together to restore power and other basic services in the island. The statement added that the President also gave his assurance that steps would be taken in order to prevent such incidents. The statement noted that electricity services will be provided to the hospitals as a priority.
The President’s Office statement concluded by stating that the case was under investigation and that measures will be taken to ensure incidents of this nature did not occur again.
