State Trading Organization (STO) has stated that the State was initiating procedures to initiate renewable energy to the public.
Speaking in a press conference in STO, the state owned company’s Managing Director Ahmed Shaheer said that STO will soon bring in materials to generate renewable energy to the mass market at reasonable prices.
“Generating electricity from renewable sources is a key target for the Government. These resources are not yet available locally, which led to STO’s decision to bring these resources to the market,” he said.
Shaheer added that a special corner for these products will be established in STO Home Improvement.
“The Government has established a MVR 500 million fund in BML for the initiative. With this facility the products can be easily purchased,” he said.
Shaheer further said that they were negotiating with Philips to bring in energy efficient light, which will be brought with the opening of Umar Shopping Arcade.
