Elections Commissions (EC) has stated that the Commission operates within the means of the law and will implement all the missives that are issued on the Commission.
Speaking in a press conference on Sunday, the Commission made the assurance the Commission will comply with the ruling issued by the Civil Court with regards to the fingerprint case filed in the Court. The Commission said that they will refrain from making any statements as the case is an ongoing one in the Court.
Some political parties had protested the recent amendment to the Political Parties Act, stating that a new amendment cannot nullify what had been carried out before. The parties said that it was unreasonable that the Commission had mandated all parties to resubmit forms with the fingerprints, adding that the time period given to do so was also insufficient.
EC said that the Commission will abide by the laws passed by the Parliament. EC added that the Commission was currently reviewing the submitted forms and will reveal details as soon as the process was concluded.
EC currently accepts forms only with the fingerprints. However, many had raised the issue of the verification process used by the Commission.
