Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim has said that major renewable energy projects are scheduled to begin in HA and HDhl Atolls.
Minister Thoriq said that the Ministry is scheduled to begin in the first three months of the year, in addition to many other similar projects.
Minister Thoriq further said that private parties are expressing more interest in the renewable energy sector, noting that more resorts are moving towards the sector.
He added that the Ministry was working to fulfill the Government’s pledge to generate 30 percent of electricity use from renewable sources in this five year term.
Thoriq also said that the 4 megawatt renewable energy project in Male’ will be completed this year and will be integrated to the power grid.
