President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has stated that this year will see unprecedented growth in the health sector and that the sector will seek to achieve many goals set for the sector.
He made the statement speaking in the PPM MDA Coalition rally held in Alimas Carnival Thursday night.
President Yameen said that this year a regionally acclaimed diagnostic center will be established in IGMH, in addition to a cath lab for cardio issues and a super specialty kidney center, able to carry out kidney transplants.
He further said that those patients airlifted to Male’, will be brought to Male’ by the bridge from the airport. Last year, the country had negated the status as the only country without an MRI machine in the region, by introducing the service in IGMH.
President Yameen also highlighted on the issue of drugs, which is still a prevalent issue.
“We have rehabilitated 50 individuals, who are currently employed in various fields,” he said.
President Yameen said that if either the President or the Vice President had engaged in corruption then action will be taken and that individual will have to face justice.
He added that he cannot prevent any former President from seeking medical treatment abroad. President Yameen added that he hoped that the former Presidents will return back after full recovery to once again serve the nation.
