Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizz has stated that he had been given the assurance that the China Maldives Friendship Bridge will be completed in the given time.
Speaking to press, on arrival after attending the opening ceremony of AIIB, Dr. Muizz said that he had met with the senior officials at the Chinese Commerce Ministry and held discussions regarding the bridge.
Dr. Muizz said that Mr. Zheng, the Vice Minister at the Commerce Ministry, had said that this was one of the most vital projects carried out by China in other countries.
“I had held discussions with the CCCC Company, the contractors of the bridge. The company had carried out such projects before, but this project is more important as the Chinese Government is giving special emphasis to this. The CCCC President has been given the task of overseeing the project on a daily basis, which is a first for him,” Dr. Muizz said.
He further said this was evidence of the emphasis given to the project by the Government of China.
Dr. Muizz also said that he had conducted discussions with parties interested in developing the Male’ Sports City and Hulhumale’ second phase housing units.
