Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon hashed out severe criticism against the legal representation for former President Mohamed Nasheed, Amal Clooney and Jared Jenser.
Speaking to press, Minister Dunya said that the statements given by the defense lawyers were a compelling tale, designed to defame the Maldives. Minister Dunya added that these statements offsets the progress made by the country in the field of climate change, human rights and development.
“Even in South Asia, Maldives has made significant progress in human rights, education and health sectors. While this is the case, the lawyers are saying that Maldives is the poorest in the region. They are making such fabrications,” she said.
Minister Dunya said that the Government will seek to rectify the situation to the international community and the media. She added that any action against any citizen by international will impact the entire nation, effecting the investments that are to come into the country.
