Existing Runway’s Repair and Re-surfacing project at INIA Commenced

Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) has commenced Runway Repair & Asphalt Re-surfacing project at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) at 0000hrs on 16th January 2015.

According to MACL, Sinohydro Corporation Ltd has mobilized all necessary equipment with all their engineers and workers well ahead of the project commencement time. All the relevant departments of MACL also attended the site including MACL Project Consultant, Project Engineers, Safety Department, Aerodrome Team and MACL Maintenance Team.

The project was carried under the watchful eyes of MACL’s Managing Director Mr. Adil Moosa.

The Runway Resurfacing project started from the northern end of the runway and every working day around 80 to 120 meters is estimated to be completed. The project is estimated to take 90 days and is set to continue from 0000hrs to 0600hrs every working day. Already MACL has issued a NOTAM to all airline operators informing of this project.

The signing ceremonyof this project was heldon 9th July 2015 at Hulhule Island Hotel (HIH) between Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL)and Sinohydro Corporation Ltd. The contract was signed by Maldives Airports Company Ltd’s Managing Director Mr. Adil Moosa and Sinohydro Corporation Ltd Project Manager Mr. HeiShaoyu.

MACL hopes that once this project is completed, the issues at the present runway will be completely solved.
