Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Ziyad Bagir has said that disrespecting the rulers of a nation is akin to disloyalty to religion and the nation.
He made the statement speaking in the official ceremony held in K. Guraidhoo to mark the day Maldives embraced Islam.
Minister Ziyad said that with the changes and extreme liberal views from the western secular ideals, many have begun to reject the ideals in Islam. Citing that in the Quran God had ordered all human kind to believe in God, the Prophet and the rulers among men.
Minister Ziyad concluded his speech by calling all to be wary of actions that are against Islam and Islamic principles. He also cautioned against the ideological war against Islam, urging to solidify the bonds of Islam within ourselves. Minister Ziyad assured that the Government will not hesitate to protect Islam and to ensure that Maldives remains a fully Muslim nation. He made a supplication praying for victory over enemies of Islam.
Minister of Defense Adam Shareef also spoke in the ceremony. He highlighted on the story attached with the day Maldives embraced Islam, noting the story was linked with the myth of a monster. Minister Shareef said that this was a sign that there were some undesirable qualities among Maldivians.
He also highlighted on the importance of proper education and discipline in order to create a strong society capable to combating the challenges facing Islam.
Parliament Member for Guraidhoo Constituency Ibrahim Riza also addressed the ceremony, reminding all to follow the principles and commands prescribed in Islam.
