Dr. Raihaanaa binth Haji Abdullah has said the role of mothers was vital in shaping a society that was enriched and full of responsible individuals.
She made the statement speaking in “The Message” series of lectures carried out by Islamic Ministry, noting that mothers played a vital role in shaping young minds who will one day create a stable society.
Dr. Raihaanaa added that women are mistreated in the society as women do not have the same earning potential in the society. She said that the hard work carried out by women is highly underappreciated.
“The hands of women are miraculous things, engineering the progress of the society. The hands create income for their families. They create homes, take care of children. They work to build responsible adults for societies. Women carry out all this, without compromising the other,” she said.
Dr. Raihaanaa added that women did not need to conform to preconceived notions, but rather had to push forward with courage and determination. She further said that women, especially young women, had to prove they are more than capable of carrying out any initiatives they face.
Dr. Raihaanaa noted that even in the developed nations, there is a mindset that men are the stronger sex. She added that this was not the proper thing to do.
She also said that UN celebrated a Women’s Day and a Mother’s Day. However, she said that the two days had failed to raise awareness or create progress for women. Dr. Raihaanaa said that every day is Women’s Day and that women should approach every day with the aim to fulfill their goals.
Dr. Raihaanaa also said that discussions between men and women will also resolved many of the issues facing women.
