Economic Ministry has called on all to be a member of Sabaa Maldives, run by the SAARC Development Fund, and to reap the benefits of the initiative.
Speaking in a press conference in Economic Ministry, Economic Ministry’s Deputy Minister Abdullah Mohamed said that in order to take part in the initiative, every participant had to invest in a share of MVR 10.
Deputy Minister said Sabaa initiative was a sales platform, incentivizing the producers to make items.
He further said that a special area had been set up to prepare food items in Male’.
“State of art packaging services will be available there. After individuals become members of Sabaa, they will be able to work. Board has passed that women can come and work at their convenience and they will be paid for their time. The opportunity open to Sabaa members,” he said.
Abdulla said that major supermarkets had stocked Sabaa products, citing that focus was on flexible working hours. He noted that some women were able to earn between MVR 50,000 and MVR 100,000 from the program.
He added that the biggest problem was the lack of proper quality products, noting that Sabaa will seek to rectify the situation.
“The Government has initiated a plan for ladies to earn without high investments; this is open to all. I hope that all will take part in this,” he said.
