Hulhumale’ Hospital Manager Ahmed Shakir has said the Hospital will increase the number of services given to their customers, which includes testing services newly introduced as well as scanning services that will be available by end of this month.
He added that the Hospital is currently collecting samples and sending them to Hulhumale’ for tests that cannot be carried out in the Hospital.
Shakir said that sending samples to Male’ was not an easy task but had to be carried out to provide a service to the public.
“Every day a technician goes to Male’ with the samples, it is not an easy task,” he said.
Shakir added that they had been providing the service for three months now and that many were using and had accepted the service.
He stressed that many infrastructural changes had to be brought to the Hospital to carry out general testing. Shakir said that he hoped that these changes can be brought by the mid of this year.
“Up until then, we are conducting the testing by sending samples to Male’ as it is an essential service to the public,” he added.
Shakir noted that ultra sound scanning services will be introduced before the end of this month.
“We have received all machines. The location will be finished by the 10th of this month. We are now headhunting for a radiologist. We hope to start the service before the end of this month,” Shakir said.
Shakir also noted that the Hospital had announced for an ENT Surgeon and that the hospital will hold dental services for two sessions.
He also noted the services of ICU and NICU will begin in the first three months of the year, adding that once the service was introduced, the hospital will be able to review 700 patients compared to the 500 reviewed on a daily basis.
Shakir highlighted the projects initiated and completed in the Government for the health sector for the past two years was a definitive sign of the priority the sector was given by the Government. He added that the citizens and patients of the Hospital were extremely thankful for the improvements to the sector.
