Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives Rajiv Shahare has said that his biggest wish is to see that the relationship between India and the Maldives thrive further in the coming years.

Speaking to Miadhu, prior to his departure from the Maldives, Shahare said that his two year, nine months tenure as Ambassador to the Maldives, was especially dear to him.
“My stay was fulfilling and rewarding,” he said.

Shahare thanked the Maldivian Foreign Ministry, local NGO’s, Maldivian National University, Dhivehi Language Academy and other organizations for their assistance rendered to him during his tenure.

Shahare reflected on the number of the projects initiated by India, such as Senahiya development, provision of doctors and helicopters in Addu City Gan and Hahdhunmathi Gan. He noted the projects were improving the lives of the public.

Shahare reflected on the warm welcome and special care given by the public, stating that will be etched in his memory. He sincerely thanked the Indian citizens residing in the Maldives for their close relationships.
