Adeeb’s legal team statement is false: Police
Maldives Police Service have said that the lawyer Shameem’s statement about former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb being cleared of suspicion in the explosion aboard the Presidential speedboat, were untrue.

A statement released by Police stated that they had not dropped any of the multiple charges facing the former Vice President.

The statement said that Adeeb was arrested on 24th October in connection to the blast on the speedboat. The statement went ahead stating that a separate case was filed against Adeeb was filed, regarding his involvement in the MMPRC case. Police statement added that Adeeb was remanded under Police custody as per the ruling issued by the Court.

However, claims made by Adeeb’s defense lawyer Shameem who said that that Police has said that Adheeb is suspected in the MMPRC case alone, were untrue and designed to create confusion.
Police added that they had not informed any individual regarding the details of the case, as both cases were under open cases.

Police said that they would take legal action against those who were spreading false rumors on the cases and on the mandate of Police. The statement concluded by appealing to lawyers and members of public not to carry out such actions.
