President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has revealed that a Central Licensing Authority will be formed middle of next year.
He made the statement in the ceremony held to launch the five year strategic plan for the Civil Service Commission and to celebrate the achievements of the past five years for the service.
President Yameen said that forming an authority for licensing will improve the services rendered to the public and improve the civil service.
President Yameen said that there was an excess of civil servants in the Government, however, service provision is delayed in most cases. President cited that members of the public have experienced delays in service provision and repeated visits to one office on very small issues.
President Yameen added that this was not acceptable by the public and contributed to the loss of public trust in Government agencies. He cited that in some Government offices, such as Economic Ministry, service had to be sought in days.
