Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon has said that the bond of friendship between China and Maldives is very important and China even acknowledges this.
Dunya Maumoon made this remark at the press conference held at the Foreign Ministry following her visit to Sri Lanka.
The Minister said that the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom during his state visit to China invited the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping however the President Xi Jinping stated that it will not be easy to visit this year because of the tight schedule.
Dunya Maumoon said that the Chinese President’s decision to visit Maldives this soon despite his previous reply shows the importance the relationship between the two countries.
Dunya noted that this is the first time that a Chinese President is visiting Maldives.
