MTCC Chairman Hussain Salim Mohamed has stated that the company is a company that was consistently working to increase the public profits.
He made the statement in the opening ceremony of the children’s evening held to mark the 35th anniversary of the company, held in Republic Square on Friday evening.
Hussain Salim said that the company was formed 35 years ago by the Government to maximize the profits of the public funds and that he company had fulfilled their mandate.
Hussain Salim added that the company had carried out many infrastructure development projects across the nation. He noted that the new official jetty was one such project and assured that the company will carry out more projects of the nature in the future.
He said that every company will have downturns, similar to the one experienced by the company in the past. Salim further said the company was aiming for a 300 percent profit increase.
The company had experienced severe losses in 2010 and 2011, with the profits kicking in 2012. Based on the figures of 2012, this year the company is expected to rake in 600 percent profits.
Salim said that the company will hold more evenings of this nature. Many children and parents took part in the children’s evening.
