The water system network project has been started in Hinnavaru. The project was started Thursday morning in a special ceremony held in the island by Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim.
Speaking in the ceremony, Minister Thoriq said the project was a project carried out under USAID grant of US$ 58 million. He appealed to the public to lend assistance to the Government to complete the project.
Minister Thoriq also said that there were many parties who were trying to prevent the flow of foreign projects and urged citizens not to carry out such actions.
Thoriq said the projects were carried out by the Government without any bias on politics, islands and citizens. Minister Thoriq also noted that many awareness campaigns on climate change were carried out by USAID, noting that such campaigns were vital.
Hinnavaru Council President said that a fee will be taken in the initial stages of the water supply provision. He also urged all residences to apply for the service at the soonest. The project is contracted to Hitachi Aqua Company.
