Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure today has signed a contract with Heavy Force Private Limited for the construction of harbor in K.Gaafaru Island. The ceremony held at Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure was attended by Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr.Mohamed Muizzu, Managing Director of Heavy Force, Mr. Ibrahim Zameer, Senior Officials of Ministry and K.Gaafaru Council members.
The project which will be funded by the Government budget costs MRF 43,169,640.00 and is scheduled to be completed within 300 days. Under this project a new harbor size of 1000 ft x 300 ft will be constructed in the island. The main components of the project include construction of 361m rock armour breakwater, construction of 108m rock armour revetment, construction of 450m quay wall with concrete L-section blocks, filling and eeclaiming existing harbor area, dredging a new harbor basin to a depth of -3m from MSL and placement of interlocking blocks of harbor pavement area at a width of 53 and road lights in harbor area at 20m intervals and widening and dredging existing entrance channels.
On behalf of the Government of Maldives, Minister Dr.Mohamed Muizzu signed the agreement while, Managing Director of Heavy Force Pvt Ltd Mr. Ibrahim Zameer signed the agreement on behalf of Heavy Force Pvt Ltd.
