Chinese President will launch various developmental projects in Maldives- President Yameen

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping will launch various developmental projects in Maldives during his state visit next week.

President Yameen made this remark speaking at the function held at Nasandhura Palace Hotel to celebrate the joining of Alif Dhaal Omadhoo Council members to the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

The President said that President Xi Jinping’s decision to visit Maldives first during his visit to four countries in the region is a great honour for the Maldives.

“And he will be visiting us on the day when it will be a month since my state visit to China. This is a great honour for Maldives,” he said.

President Yameen said that the President of China is economically the most influential leader in the world today. He said that China is also the most economically most powerful country in the world.

He said that the Maldivian government will take this great opportunity of this state visit of the President of China to commence projects for the development of the Maldivian nation and the people.

During his stay in the Maldives, President Xi will be officially ‎meeting President Yameen one-on-one. The two leaders will chair Official ‎Talks between high level delegations of the respective countries.‎

The programme also includes the signing of a number of bilateral ‎agreements on advancing developmental corporation in various identified ‎fields. Furthermore, two development projects in the Maldives that are ‎funded by the Chinese Government and implemented by Chinese ‎corporations will also be launched jointly by the two presidents.
