Islamic Minister Dr. Ahmed Ziyad Bagir has stated that the Government had always prioritized on fostering ethical values in the society.
He made the statement in the opening ceremony of the camp carried out Education Ministry and Maldives Police Service aimed at school students. The camp is held in Feydhoo finolhu.
Dr. Ziyad stated that the ethical, moral and societal values had degraded of late. He added that a program of this nature, will greatly assist children to adopt and espouse values such as love for religious practices, societal and moral values and patriotism.
He added that such activities were on the rise, due to the attention given by the President.
Dr. Ziyad said that the camp was based on practical elements as well as theoretical elements. He called on the camp participants to make the best use of the camp to gain knowledge.
He said that the length of the holidays acted as an impetus to carry out activities that would not be done normally. Dr. Ziyad added that children moved towards minor crimes as they do not know how to use their free time productively.
Speaking to Miadhu, Dr. Ziyad said that this year’s camp was aimed at students from schools in Male’. He said that the camp’s activities will be expanded next year to various parts of the country.
