The biggest agreement to create ports has been signed.
The agreement is part funded by ADB low interest loan of US $16 million and MVR 15 million from state funds. Five packages were drawn up for the project, with MTCC winning three of the packages. The other two projects were won by Sri Lanka’s Ceynoc Company.
Under the five packages, ports of 10 islands and the jetty of Fohdhoo will be constructed. Ports of HDh. Nolhivaranfaru, HDh. Nolhivaram, N. Maafaru, N. Maalhendhoo, N. Velidhoo, R. Innamaadhoo, Fuvahmulah, M. Kolhufushi, L. Gamu Thundi ward and K. Thulusdhoo are to be developed under the agreement.
MTCC CEO Ibrahim Abdu Razzaq signed the three agreements on behalf of MTCC, while Ceynoc Company’s Samaraseykara signed on behalf of the company. Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu signed the agreement on behalf of the Government.
