Opposition MDP has stated that the mass protest of 27th November will continue as planned and will last for 73 hours and 13 minutes. Speaking to Press, MDP said that in the negotiations held with Police, they had clearly communicated that no changes had been made for the duration of the protest. Anas Abdu Sattar said that in that meeting, Police had raised no issues with the duration of the protest.
However, the directive issued afterwards to halt the protest by midnight and restricting movement, was an issue made by the Home Minister.
Imthiyaz Fahmy said that the directive was an unprecedented move, not discussed in the meeting held with the Police. Therefore, Imthiyaz argued that the directive was an unconstitutional one. He appealed to the Police not to halt or disrupt the protest.
Imthiyaz added that by means of the protest, MDP will seek to add pressure to the Government.
