Imjad Jaleel, Assistant Manager for Marketing and Public Relations at Dhiraagu, has said that there were many extremely talented and gifted Maldivian students requiring an international platform to showcase their talents.
Speaking in a press conference in Dhiraagu main office, he said that this was not just applicable to the fully abled children, but also to the differently abled.
Imjad said that such children were more than deserving of equal opportunities as their peers. As such, he said that Dhiraagu was able to host one sports festival for such children and had always enforced an all-inclusive policy in such festivals.
Jamaluddin School, Imaduddin School, Ameer Ahmed, Aminiya School, Muhyiddin School, Care Society, Maldives Autism Association, Beautiful Eyes and MAPD are taking part in this year’s festival.
Steering Committee members and Ameer Ahmed teacher Amathulla Shakeeb stressed the importance of well trained teachers especially for physical activities and special talents. She noted that events such as this was vital for the development of special needs children and thanked Dhiraagu for their assistance in the project.
