Isdhoo Constituency MP Ahmed Rasheed has said that availability of medication from the islands was the biggest benefit to the public.
He made the statement speaking after signing the ceremony of projects for four projects in three islands held in Health Ministry. MP Rasheed said that Isdhoo constituency previously did not have a pharmacy, but several pharmacies had been constructed in the past few years.
He said that prior to the Government’s initiative to create a pharmacy in every island, the residents of islands had incurred high costs to gain the medication. He noted that the medication can cost MVR 80, but
the overall cost to buy the medication can rise to MVR 800 due to the travelling costs.
The project to open a pharmacy in every inhabited island was facilitated with the assistance of STO. All of the pharmacies are operated under Aasanda insurance scheme.
