If drug entry is not prevented, drug issue will not be resolved: Evila
Thoddoo Constituency MP Ibrahim Hassan (Evila) has stated that if drug entry was not prevented, the issue of drugs in the society will never be resolved.

He made the statement speaking in the Parliament in the debate session of the Drug Act proposed by the Government.

“When we look at the solutions, all we see is constructing buildings, rehab services for addicts. Those are vital aspects of treatment. However, it is more important to prevent them from approaching drugs in the first place. This is not seen in the public. It is saddening. Every Government had failed to address the issue. Even this Parliament had deliberated the issue over and over again. However, the entry of drugs had not been stopped. While we’re working on this, attention has been diverted to the issue of the armory,” he said.

MP Ibrahim said that unless strict punishments were implemented on the offenders, the issue of drugs can never be resolved. He added that if the situation is not rectified, the number of youth falling prey to the issue will keep on rising.
