Parliament has passed to support the state of emergency declared by the Government on Wednesday, for a period of 30 days.
Out of the 72 MPs who took part in the vote, 58 MPs voted in favor of the motion, while voted against the motion and three MPs did not take part in the vote.
The motion was submitted to the Parliament by PPM Parliamentary Group Leader Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik and was supported by Jumhooree Party Leader Qasim Ibrahim.
MPs from the ruling coalition supported the motion, in the debate phase. Opposition MPs voiced displeasure on the state of emergency.
