Disregard for the people of Haa Dhaalu is not a coincidence- Shahudhee
Hanimadhoo constituency MP Hussein Shahudee has said that the disregard of the state for the people of Haa Dhaalu constituency is not a coincidence when the atoll has a population of more than 25000 people.

Shahudee made this remark in an article he wrote for the campaign entitled “Haa Dhaalu Atoll hungry for tourism”.

Shahudee said that the people of Haa Dhaalu will not forgive anyone who helps in the disregard for the atoll by the state and anyone who does not want to introduce tourism to the region.

He said that the 25th of May 2005 was a day of happiness to the people of Haa Dhaalu atoll as an island was leased to develop a resort of 200 beds. He said that another island was leased to develop a resort of 250 beds on 25th June 2006 and after three months another island was leased to develop a resort of 600 beds.

“And in 12th March 2008 another island was leased to develop a resort,” he added.

Shahudee said that the people were hopeful for these islands to be developed as resorts however years have passed without no progress.

He said that the people of Haa Dhaalu atoll are living in despair because of the disregard for the development and progress of the atoll by the state.
