We will not remain silent if basic needs are not fulfilled always- Hussein Mohamed
Mathiveri constituency MP Hussein Mohamed has said that the islands of Mathiveri are small populated islands but regardless of that if the basic needs of the people are not fulfilled always then the people will not remain silent.

Hussein Mohamed made this remark speaking at the discussion held between the Finance Minister and the Parliamentary Group of the Jumhooree Party.

The Mathiveri constituency MP said that Mathiveri is the region which generates the most income of the Maldives. He also noted that Mathiveri is the region which is the most disregarded by the state.

“If you would like I can prove this from the budget book. The proof is if we look back the past three years no development projects have ever been commenced in the region. Perhaps there might be a renovation of a class room however none of the islands up until now have a fresh water system or a sewerage system,” he said.

Hussein Mohamed also said that the Himendhoo harbor project was budgeted thrice in three years however nothing has been done till today.

“Housing Ministry now claims that it has been sent for tender. As far as I know that will be only possible when the Finance Minister gives the permit. So I request you to consider what I said and to make this project possible,” he asked.

He said that the Feridhoo sewage system project was also budgeted three years and the designing of the sewerage system was only commenced this march.

“However nothing has been done so far. I appeal the Minister to look into this matter,” he said.
