Sun Island is prepared to give a warm welcome to carom players
General Manager of Sun Island Resort and Spa, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has said that the resort is well prepared to give a warm welcome to the carom players from around the world who will be visiting Maldives to participate in the Carrom World Cup 2014 held in Sun Island Resort and Spa.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Dr. Mausoom said that the Maldivian players will be going to the resort today to start their practices for the game. “We are prepared to greet and welcome them. We will give our full support to the Maldivian team,” he said.
He said that when all participants from throughout the world come to the resort, the resort management has decided to hold a special evening on honour of the players.
Sun Island Resort and Spa owner, Villa Group stated that the founder of Villa Group, Gasim Ibrahim is an inspiring leader who spends from his own pocket to such events in order to bring development and progress to the nation.
The International Carrom Federation introduced Carrom World Cup in 2002 and the first World Cup was hosted in Luton (England). It was then also decided that the Carrom World Cup will be organized in between Carrom World Championships which is held every four years. The second tournament was organized in 2006 at Cannnes (France) and the third in 2010 at Richmond Virginia (USA). Carrom World Cup is one of the most prestigious events of Carrom organized after every four years.
For 2014, the International Carrom Federation has allotted the Carrom Association of Maldives the honored privilege of organizing and hosting the 4th Carrom World Cup to in the Maldives.
