Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon has stated that even though at times there were issues and disagreements, the relationship between India and Maldives was highly resilient and on good terms.
She made the statement speaking in TVM briefing the public on the enormous outpouring of support received after the explosion aboard the Presidential speedboat on the 28th September.
Minister Dunya said that of late the relationship between the two nations was not at acceptable levels but under the guidance and efforts of President Abdullah Yameen the relationship has been restored to normal levels.
She noted that the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first person to condemn the attack and extend assistance in the matter. She also noted that her Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj had personally visited the Maldives and enquired on the progress of the situation. Minister Dunya said that Minister Swaraj had visited President Yameen and offered assistance in the matter.
