A senior citizen of Singapore has stated that Singapore’s development and success can solely be attributed to the ethics of the public.
An upstanding former Singaporean civil servant made the statement in an exclusive interview given to Miadhu news. He said that success is not defined by tall and beautiful buildings or national wealth.
He said that in Singapore, every single citizen, irrespective of their social standing or job, is accorded equal respect. He added that in Singapore the number of Muslims are low. However, qualities exercised by muslims are seen all across the nation.
He also said that corruption was the lowest in the country, with Singapore scoring the highest in the international corruption index. He said that this was one of the biggest contributing reasons for the nation’s development.
He also added that Singapore was noted for the judicial justice system and respect for the law. Every single Singaporean, irrespective of age, gender, held utmost respect and followed the law.
Singapore also is one of the few nations with low drug problems and therefore most of the finances in the nation is spent wisely. He said that drug dealers have no market in Singapore.
If Maldives is to emulate Singapore’s successes, he advised that we need to follow such examples and create a society that is respectful, polite and ethical. He added that if such a generation is created in the Maldives, true success can be enjoyed.
