Humming boy farms and Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture has signed an agreement to start the most expensive agricultural project in G. Dh. Atoll.

Humming boy farms reported that that the project will create greenhouses which will produce different types of berries. The farms said that produce from the farm will be sold in the local markets at reduced rates. The greenhouses will be powered by energy from sea salt, with solar energy and diesel as back up sources of energy. The farm said that the produce from the farm will be available within 36 hours of picking.

The project is financed from grant aids given by Canada, UAE, China, Hawaii, Turkey, Australia, Britain and Germany. A four year grace period to develop the project had been granted by the Government.
Speaking to Miadhu, Dr. Mohamed Shainee stated that the project had been initiated as part of the Government’s initiative to increase investment. He added that the Government had welcomed the investment and noted that this was a sign of investor confidence.

G. Dh. Atoll Hulhuvaarulaa and three additional uninhabited islands have been set aside for the 21 year project.
