MTCC, Yanmar introduces 60 horsepower engine to Maldives
MTCC has released a special 60 horsepower engine to the Maldives in association with Yanmar.

The 60U4Y engine was released in a special ceremony held in National Art Gallery Tuesday night by Fisheries and Agriculture Minister Dr. Mohamed Shainee.

Speaking in the ceremony, MTCC CEO Ibrahim Abdu Razzaaq Haleem said that the company had requested Yanmar to create an engine after Yanmar stopped production of Yanmar 2T and 3T engines. He said that with Yanmar’s decision to halt production, Maldivian vessels using those model engines experienced issues in purchasing spare parts.

Razzaq said that the new engine was aimed at the common 30 and 40 feet vessels used in the Maldives and added that all spare parts will be available from the company’s Kashavaru showroom. The company reported that the new engines are easy to use, fuel efficient and fully tested by the company. Additionally, MTCC said that the engines will be leased under the Islamic finance procedure with a payment plan of 18 months. The engines and spare parts of the engine will sale for MVR 400,000.

In the ceremony, the first 20 customers of the engine were awarded a special plaque by CEO Ibrahim Abdu Razzaaq Haleem.

Yanmar Asia Singapore General Manager and senior officials of both Yanmar and MTCC took part in the ceremony.
