A special ceremony was held in Paradise Island Resort Thursday night to mark the 85th national day of Saudi Arabia.
Vice President Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Ghafoor was the chief guest of the ceremony, which was attended by the Speaker of the Parliament Abdullah Maseeh, Ministers, various state dignitaries, heads of independent institutions, diplomats, officials of Maldives Islamic Bank and Maldives Islamic University’s Vice Chancellor Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.
Speaking in the ceremony, Saudi charge d’ affaires in the Maldives, Thoriq Khaddham Al Fiyaz said that they were celebrating the 85th anniversary when late King Abdul Aziz bin Abdu Rahman Al Saud signed the royal decree uniting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the banner of Islam and declaring that day a national day.
“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has successfully achieved the required balance between the developmental needs of our great nation and the values that underpin Saudi society. Importantly, the Kingdom and its citizens have managed to keep their values in the face of massive cultural, economic and developmental changes. As a result, the Kingdom has attained a very real and visible renaissance in all areas, and has enhanced its standing amongst nations. This achievement is reflected in the strong bond between the Kingdom’s leadership and its people. The national spirit and allegiance of all citizens to the country have helped push the nation forward in progress and prosperity,” he said.
He also said that Saudi government has always worked understanding that serving the public was a responsibility.
